October progress report

This month saw a significant amount of writing focused on dark-themed stories. I'd like to give you a brief overview of the content of those scenarios!

Heading Straight for a [Hisak' Hafla] Development!

Reflecting on skipping last month's update, I really pushed myself on scenario writing this month. Approximately 35 new episodes were added this month. Compared to the previous update, that means about 45 to 50 episodes have been added. Also, the episodes I finished this month are quite lengthy (some can take over 20 minutes to read if you use the auto-play function to skim through them), so... well, it was genuinely tough to write.

The next update is scheduled to conclude Chapter 10, Hisak' Hafla, and transition into Chapter 11, Gelte. (The meaning of these chapter titles, spelled in Yelekish, will be revealed to Pixiv Fanbox subscribers at a later date.)

Increased Dialogue Volume Forced Me to Abandon Self-Translation

The story of WoY-R has reached its halfway point. The sheer volume of information being revealed led to a massive increase in dialogue, making the English translation (which I was doing in parallel with writing) an extremely time-consuming and painful task.

Therefore, I recently gave up on [doing it myself] and switched to relying on AI, Gemini. I'm now having the Gemini handle the English translation. Since switching to throwing the work to the Gemini, I've distinctly felt an improvement in the quality of the translation. Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, it's frustrating...!

Reviewing the Gemini's output, I often learn things like:

  • Is it really okay to use contractions like 'must've'? I'd never heard or seen that before!!!!!
  • Does 'to be on the wagon' mean 'to quit drinking'? Huh, so 'wagon' refers to a water-carrying wagon, meaning 'only drinking water'!?!?

The advances in AI are amazing. Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

The World as Seen by `The Oldest Generation Survivors`

The story has reached its turning point, and a "WHAAAAAT?!" development has arrived. The number of scenes requiring new illustrations is increasing, and it's exhausting. Gyaaaaah!

Why're you sittin' there so casual, then?
Get up, get your sword ready. You ain't expectin' me to do all the fightin', are you?

In parallel, the gradually unfolding [story of the oldest generation survivors living in the West] might be darker and more intensely poisonous than the main plot itself.

The most poisonous among them is not Frhoidhan—..., but Luhzelluand, the poison researcher. Her actions, revealed through Geltdalath's recollections, might show her to be a person with ideologies that are a bit difficult for us living in the modern age to accept... You might even find yourself under a spell where Laduiagoth seems rational by comparison.

And Dfaboorha, where deteriorating public safety is accelerating due to political instability, enters another new stage... But the Chancellor, Frhoidhanath, is indifferent?! This is because everything the younger generation does seems utterly ridiculous to Frhoidhanath, one of the oldest generation.

Note:
The young elves held early morning meetings and shouted, `Kill Frhoidhanath!`
Frhoidhanath witnessed this scene with his own eyes, guided by Parthelyath, but he seemed unmoved and emotionless.

It looks like developments will continue to threaten the stomach health of Parthelyath, the troubleshooter. Meanwhile, the reaction of the Egrecerhad island dwellers is...

(While worrying about Frhoidhanath's family)
No concern for Frhoidhanath, then?

...Well, Frhoidhanath is one of the strongest users of offensive magic, after all.

More New Characters Added

I've always wondered, does that old man even have a heart?

Due to the scenario's needs, I had to hastily add another new character.

The new character, Ediath, is the former Chancellor of the Judahlest. So, his existence was already mentioned (touched upon in the early stages of the story). He took over the Chancellor's seat from the retired Frhoidhanath but couldn't cope with the series of events stemming from the turmoil in Ulughal, leading to a stomach ulcer. He was forced out by Frhoidhanath under the pretext of recuperation and stepped down. However, having recovered, he is being pulled back into the public spotlight by Parthelyath.

I accept, however, that to speak further on this matter would be utterly fruitless.
Nor shall I repeat the same error.

Ediath, a gentle person who is `unlike` a Western Elf, seems quite dissatisfied with the cold-blooded Frhoidhanath. What will he do next...?

And she, too, finally descends into the main scenario.

We shall now enshrine and worship you and Lady ???,
not the Earth Mother!

She's not strictly a new character as she has appeared in sub-events. Look forward to it!

And speaking of characters, the total number of featured characters seems to have exceeded 40. This unfortunate habit of only being able to write ensemble dramas has fully activated, hasn't it...? Also, I still haven't drawn the standing portrait for the Black Dragon, Camilla. I need to get started on that soon...

New Illustrations Keep Piling Up, up, up......

I've drawn 14 new Event illustrations this month alone (as of October 22nd, the date of writing this article), and my hand is killing me. If you include last month's, the update, [α: 0015] , will feature about 24 new illustrations compared to the previous update. Add in the three new characters I also had to draw, and no wonder my hand hurts!

Writing at this completely insane pace seems to have flipped a strange switch inside me, and ideas like `Oh, wait, I should add an illustration to this scene too!` keep flooding in. This is not good.

That's all for this month, see you!

I'll finally get started on the standing portrait for the oldest generation's mum, the Black Dragon Camilla, yes! And I'll be drawing one more woman, too, absolutely!!!
